DuPont Polymer Powders
With fifty years of experience in the manufacturing of ultra-fine polymeric powders, DuPont Polymer Powders has established itself as the global market leader in thermoplastic polymer powders. Unique precipitation and milling processes compatible with a wide range of polymer chemistries enable an extensive selection of product functionalities and particle size distributions.
Coathylene® Additives for GRP & Composites are precipitated powders based on polyolefin and specialty ethylene co- and ter- polymers specifically used as low-profile performance enhancing additives for glass reinforced polyester (SMC,BMC, RTM) and epoxy adhesives. The DuPont product range also includes Abcite® Thermoplastic Powder Coatings for long-term surface protection on metals plastics and glass.
Dupont will be exhibiting at the Composites & RP Asia Exhibition in Hong Kong on 3-5 Sept 2007, stand J17. |
Abcite® and Flamulit® high build coatings offer an ideal alternative to GRP or Stainless Steel cable support systems.
Formulation Additives
The Coathylene® range of polyethylene's, polypropylene's, and ethylvinylacetate fine powders are used as additives for Fiber reinforced polyesters FRP (Sheet Molding
Compound SMC and Bulk Molding Compound BMC), Binders for the manufacturing of
alkaline dry cell batteries, Anti-caking for elastomer production, Mild scrubbing additives for cosmetics and soaps, Structural additive for paints, Sintering of metals, Rapid prototyping, Special printing paper and many other specialty applications. Coathylene® fine powders are produced through a patented chemical process, which facilitates an end product particle size in the ranges from 10 to 30 microns.
The DuPont Polymer Powders product range also comprises powders produced by cryogenic grinding. Applications of these larger particle size powders include thermoadhesives and as coatings for the textile industry and composites industry. Increasing demand for environmentally friendly products in the automotive industry is also opening new markets such as adhesives and binders in the manufacturing of car interior finishes.
