Fully opened in August 1992, the Max Wexler designed Banyan Tree
is a fairly flat, parkland course, carved out of the sand hills
around the 5 luxury hotels of the Laguna Resort complex on the
edge of the secluded Bang Tao Bay. A par 71, playing 6,850 yards
off the championship tees, the course has a nice relaxed atmosphere
in typical resort style, which makes it probably the most flattering
course in Phuket for higher handicap players. With water coming
into play on 13 of the 18 holes, it rewards accuracy over power,
with the possible exception of the back-to-back par 5 finishing
holes. Players of all levels can improve their game on the driving
range, grass practice tees, 2500 sq.m. putting green and separate
chipping green of the extensive practice facility - one of the
largest in Asia.
