Thai Country Club, located 45 minutes by expressway from downtown Bangkok, is one of the most exclusive golf courses in Thailand and membership has now been capped. However, guests of The Peninsula Bangkok have the opportunity to play the course, subject to pre-booking of tee-off times, which Asian Sky will be pleased to arrange.

The original course has been redeveloped by Dennis Griffiths into a world-class championship course that plays 7,052 yards at par 72 off the championship tees, and retains mature natural features such as fully-grown conifers and eucalyptus trees. The new course was the venue for the 1997 Asian Honda Classic, where Tiger Woods cruised to a comfortable 10-stroke victory after shooting a final round of 68 for a 20 under-par total of 268 for the championship.

The second round of the 1998 Johnnie Walker Super Tour was also played in ideal conditions at Thai Country Club, won in style by Vijay Singh, who carded a magnificent score of 66 - two strokes ahead of Ernie Els and Jesper Parnevik. Ernie Els commented afterwards:
"It is in the best condition of any course I've played in Asia. It was a pleasure playing it."

Signature 6th hole

Asian Golf Monthly described the signature 6th hole: "At 218 yards, this par-three requires a confident drive from the tee to allow most golfers to navigate this beautiful yet often punishing hole. The dangers lie in the water guarding the right side of the fairway, making it essential for those prone to slicing to keep their shots left. Other hazards include the giant bunker below the sloping green, which if anything, will prevent errant drives from finding water". According to competition statistics, this deceiving hole is the most difficult on the course, with a stroke average of 3.38.

Restaurant and Dining Facilities

As expected of a club as prestigious as this, the dining facilities are second to none. Popular with local residents and business people as well as members and guests, the dining room's imaginative menus specialise in Thai, Chinese, Japanese and Western cuisine. The cocktail bar is the perfect place to meet for pre-luncheon or dinner drinks.

Sumptuous buffets are served in the balmy open air on the clubhouse patio, with its spectacular views over the course.

A private dining room is also available for special occasions or more discrete business lunches and dinners.
